With great expectation I see the emerald-green beaches from the plane window as we prepare to land to Punta Cana, a destination probably better known among those that loves beaches more than to birdwatchers. But the reason to land in this part of the Hispaniola was to start a new route, one that offered more locations than any other birding tour to this wonderful and logistically challenging country, the Dominican Republic.
