Sunny but still cold. This is the first impressions (of someone like me that was born in the tropics of America) when I arrived at Longyearbyen. The long 99-days (or so) long night is over, and the summer has done its call in Svalbard for Barnacle Goose and Snow Bunting to start breeding as well as Common and King eiders. Equally, Pomarine Jaegers are pairing in preparation to breed as well as many seabirds that represent the massive animal mass here. What a wonderful welcome to Svalbard!
