COLOMBIA: Diverse West Bogota

Download PDF Share

Our Diverse Bogota tour kicked-off with a great start in Laguna La Florida with dozens of Andean Ducks, American Coots (red shielded one), Pied-billed Grebe, Blue-winged Teal and nearly a hundred Bare-faced Ibis.

Exploring in further the reeds at the wetland edge, some of us to have a flash view of Silvery-throated Spinetail while a Yellow-hooded Blackbirds sang from an exposed twig. A special effort at the edge of the reeds paid well when a family (2 adults, 1 subadult) of the endemic Bogota Rail walked out of the vegetation and later ran across a clearing. Other wonders seen included Spot-flanked Gallinule and Rufous-browed Conebill.
