The bird assessment of the southern headwaters of the Caroni river, with a new location for Black-chested Tyrant and many new records for the birds of Venezuela.
For the third consecutive year, here is again the VENT Summer Eastern Venezuela report. Highlights were Harpy Eagle, Crested Eagle, Roraiman Barbtail and the new Roraima Antbird. Also, 19 species of Psittacidae and 46 species of Tyrant-Flycatchers.
This was indeed the Antpitta trip and the one with the record of the largest number of endemic antpittas for a single trip, including Scallop-breasted Antpitta and Great Antpitta.
The exploratory trip to Roraima in 2005 provided many good records, including the first recording of the pantepui race of Band-winged Nightjar (Caprimulgus longirostris).
The classic best of NW Venezuela. We saw all the possible Venezuela endemic species in the itinerary including Scallop-breasted Antpitta and Great Antpitta.
This is the bird assessment to the Perija mountains. Here we got the first verifiable record of Harpy Eagle and learned about the habitat of Recurve-billed Bushbird.
Here is the second VENT Summer SE Venezuela. Highlights included a huge army ant swarm with many of the specialists,a s well as Harpy Eagle, both Bellbirds, Ground-Cuckoo and two species of crakes.
