Our 2014 Eastern Venezuela tour started near the southern bank of the Orinoco river in the Cachamay falls. Here, Orinocan Saltator was seen. Continuing south, we drove to one of my favorite birding areas: Sierra de Lema where we admired the astonishing Guianan Cock-of-the-Rocks and the bright and distinctive White Bellbird. Also, we saw a Black Curassow walking along the road and a pair of Roraiman Barbtail climbing a mossy branch. A visit to Rio Grande represented my my 25th consecutive year seeing this amazing eagle! A grand-finale boat trip to the Orinoco Delta gave us views of the recently described Rio Orinoco Spinetail and Delta Amacuro Softtail. Also an unnamed wagtail tyrant and Black-chested Tyrant!
